 118. A photograph of a family occasion (colour or black & white –

           7” x 5”)

119. A knitted cushion cover – any size.

120. A flower arrangement using £5 of supermarket flowers. May be augmented with garden greenery.                                            

121. A kitchen front ginger cake. Made to the following recipe:

300g/11oz melted margarine

400g/14oz golden syrup

1 egg

130g/ 4¾ oz plain flour

225g/8oz self raising flour

1 rounded tsp ground ginger

1 rounded tsp cinnamon

Pinch of salt

110g/ 4¼ oz soft dark brown sugar

1½ tspn bicarbonate of soda


Heat oven to 150C/130Cfan/Gas2. Grease and line a 30cm x 20cm (12in x 8in) tray bake tin. Gently melt the margarine and syrup in a pan. Beat egg. Place flours, ginger, cinnamon, salt and sugar into a food mixer. Mix at slow speed. With mixer running, pour in the margarine and syrup, then add the beaten egg. Dissolve bicarb in 175ml warm water, then pour into the bowl with mixer running. Spoon mix into tin and smooth over top. Bake for 1 hour (or until a cocktail stick comes out clean). 

For exhibition at the show only present ½ of cake.
