Sutton Ex-Servicemen’s Club will hold its 53rd Annual Flower & Vegetable Show on Sunday 1st September 2019.
The Show will again take place, with the kind permission of Peter Barber, in a large marquee on Spooners Flats, Hollin Lane, Sutton.
I hope that the weather is kind to you in the time leading up to the Show and that your growing season has started well after what has been an encouraging start to the summer.
I’m sure that the majority of you will now be familiar with the Schedule.
It is more or less the same as in previous years with just a few minor changes with the WI classes again being open to members of any of the Peak Parishes WI’s.
After a greatly successful first couple of years we will again be staging the “World Lemon Cheese Championship”, will Roger Lomas retain the world title, will Tessa Whiskard take back the title or will we be crowning a new world champion on the afternoon of the show?
Special thanks must again go to our friends at Jobling Gowler Solicitors for their wonderful, continued support.
The scarecrow competition will again take place, please spread the word and try to have a go. This year, like last year, will be an open competition so you can create a “crow” to resemble whatever you want & you’ll find full details later in the schedule.
Please don’t forget that the prize money will be paid out on the day of the Show, it certainly helps wrap the show formalities up quickly and so if you are fortunate enough to win a prize please see the show officials on the day.
The Show really is a friendly village event, and is open to everyone so please try and take part. Let’s hope the sun shines, the village turns out and we have a wonderful day. The marquee will be open to the public from 2:30pm - it takes us until then to finish the judging and write out the certificates for all 136 classes.
